Student Checklist
Welcome to Madonna University! We're excited to have you join our community. To ensure
a smooth transition, we've created this comprehensive checklist outlining the key
steps you'll need to take.
Follow these guidelines to stay on track and prepare for your first semester. If you
have any questions along the way, our dedicated staff is here to assist you.
Annual Student Checklist
May/June
- Check your email for information from Financial Aid
- You may need to turn in documents or accept your awards
- Financial Aid has a separate login from your My Portal. You will create your account
once financial aid emails you - MY Financial Aid
July
- Complete any remaining items for financial aid – MY Financial Aid
- Don’t forget to accept your awards!
- If you need help navigating your Financial Aid Portal, explore our instructional videos
(coming soon)
- Double check that you have registered for all of your fall classes.
- Sign into to My Portal, click on “Students”, then “Course Information”. Choose “My Schedule” from the list
of options.

August
- Open and review your Fall Bill from Madonna.
- Make a plan to decide if you will need to use loans, a payment plan or if your financial aid
funds will cover your balance.
- Sign a release form (FERPA) if you would like to have a parent/guardian help you with university services.
- Avoid a $200 late fee! If your financial aid does not cover your balance, make sure you are on a payment plan before the first day of school!
- Parking Passes – Students are required to update their vehicle registration each academic year by
completing the Student Parking Registration process in the student portal. The registration form will open annually the 2nd week of July and should be done by the end of August annually. Register your vehicle
and visit the Enrollment Center in room 2003 to get your parking sticker.
- If you are not parking a car on-campus you must still complete the registration process and choose “no vehicle” so you are not charged for a parking pass.
- Fall Course Materials will be provided for you based on your course registration. Look for an email from
Slingshot Logistics for details.

- Meal Plan Changes – email residencelife@madonna.edu by the end of the first week of fall classes to make any meal plan changes.

October
- Check for any registration holds on your account. Go to My Portal, click on Students then MY Class Registration
- Check your account statement to make sure your financial plan is working.
- Email sfs@madonna.edu if you need payment plan help or have questions on your balance.
- Check for holds on your account.
- Sign into to My Portal, click on the “Students tab” and then “Course Search”.
- If there are holds on your account, you will see them listed under the "Current Term".
- Summer registration is open at the end of this month.

- FAFSA opens October 1st for next fall. studentaid.gov
November
- The last date to withdraw from full term winter courses is in mid- For the exact date,
see the Academic Planning Guide which is published every term.
- University is closed for Thanksgiving break November 27th and 28th.
December
- Turn in your Fall Textbooks to avoid course material fees on your account. You have one week after classes end
to do this.
- December Graduates – Your degree will be conferred 4-6 weeks after fall classes end.
- Madonna University issues both a printed and digital diploma after graduation. Your
digital diploma complements your paper diploma, but it is faster to access and can
be shared on social media.
- As soon as your degree is conferred, you can order your degree posted transcripts for future employers or graduate schools.
- University is closed for the holidays from December 24th – January 1st.
November

- Winter Bills come out the first week of December.
- If you need help finding your Statement, Payment Plan information or how to give a
parent/guardian access to pay on your account, click here.
- December Graduates – Your degree will be conferred 4-6 weeks after fall classes end.
- Madonna University issues both a printed and digital diploma after graduation. Your
digital diploma complements your paper diploma, but it is faster to access and can
be shared on social media.
- As soon as your degree is conferred, you can order your degree posted transcripts for future employers or graduate schools.
January
- File the FAFSA so you are ready for next fall – studentaid.gov
- For tips and more information on the FAFSA visit the Apply for Aid page.

February
- Winter refunds begin in early February. Make sure to choose a refund preference on your Madonna One card.
- Planning to graduate in May? Bookmark the Commencement website for event details and deadlines.

- If your course has Pre- and/or Co-Requisites helpful registration tips can be found
