LIVONIA, MICH. – Sr. Nancy Marie Jamroz, a Felician Sister and co-director of the Center for Catholic Studies and Interfaith Dialogue at Madonna University, recently received the 2025 Distinguished Woman in Higher Education Leadership Award from the Michigan American Council of Education (MI-ACE) Women's Network. As the highest honor bestowed by MI-ACE, the award recognizes groundbreaking work on behalf of women that is outside the scope of the nominee’s formal faculty or staff responsibilities. Honorees have distinguished themselves as advocates for women and catalysts for change. The honor celebrates Sr. Nancy’s outstanding leadership, commitment to the advancement of women, and significant contributions to Madonna University and surrounding communities.
In his nomination letter, Madonna President Chris Dougherty (pictured with Sr. Nancy, above) wrote, “Sr. Nancy is for present-day Madonna the quintessential embodiment of that pioneering spirit of the Felician Sisters and their leadership development and mentoring for women in higher education.”
Chris Benson, vice president for Student Affairs and Mission Integration provided
a letter of support for the nomination, in which she shared, “Sr. Nancy has hired,
mentored, sponsored, and promoted many women in higher education and in the Felician
Sisters community. Her dedication to uplifting women in leadership positions is legendary
and priceless.”
The award was presented during this year’s MI-ACE Women’s Network Annual Conference, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Kellogg Center, in East Lansing, Michigan.
A contingent of Felician Sisters and Madonna community members were on hand to cheer
for Sr. Nancy.

the advancement of women leaders in higher education and the MI-ACE Women’s Network
was established the following year. In concert with the ACE and the ACE Women’s Network
