LIVONIA, MICH. – Madonna University announced a new discounted tuition rate of $550 per credit hour for its fully online graduate programs, positioning the institution as a cost-effective option for students seeking advanced degrees. The rate, which applies exclusively to online programs, aims to reduce financial barriers amid rising graduate education costs nationwide.
According to BestColleges.com, graduate school costs an average of $43,620 per year at private institutions, with two master's degree programs averaging $73,520. Madonna's new rate, significantly below these benchmarks, translates to approximately $19,800 for a typical 36-credit program, prior to scholarships, though costs may vary by course load or program adjustments.
"I'm really excited that Madonna University is offering a discounted tuition rate for online graduate programs," said Julianne Haefner, assistant director of graduate admissions. "This will make a graduate education more affordable and help more students take the next step in their education without worrying so much about the cost."
The online programs include a Master of Science in Business Leadership, Criminal Justice Leadership and Intelligence, Transformational Educational Leadership (focused on K-12 administrative roles), and Nonprofit Leadership, as well as a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration. Each program emphasizes flexibility for working professionals, with courses delivered entirely online.
The move comes as graduate school costs have risen nearly 180% over the past 33 years, outpacing inflation and wage growth. Madonna's pricing strategy reflects a broader effort to expand access to advanced education, particularly for students balancing careers, family, or geographic constraints.
Prospective students are encouraged to review program-specific plans of study and consult with the graduate admissions team to confirm credit requirements. Financial aid, scholarships, and grants may further offset costs.
