LIVONIA, MICH. – Madonna University will hold its third annual Crusader 5K + Madonna Mile this fall, continuing a tradition that raises funds for the university’s Bridge to Success Summer Program. The races, which welcome competitive runners, casual walkers, and families alike, are set for Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 8 a.m., with packet pick-up starting at 7:30 a.m. The races will start and finish at the Madonna University Welcome Center, 36700 Schoolcraft Road.
The races kick off during Madonna University’s Homecoming Weekend, which runs from
Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27. As the first event of Saturday,
the race sets the tone for a weekend packed with Crusader football and soccer, as
well as other events like the Alumni Milestone Reunion Brunch and Mass, giving alumni,
students, and families a way to reconnect before the rest of the weekend’s festivities
begin.
Madonna University’s Bridge to Success Summer Program is a 10-day residential program that helps first-generation, underrepresented, and
underserved students transition to college life before their first semester begins.
This program is offered at no cost to participating students thanks to the support
of donors, sponsors, as well as events like the Crusader 5K + Madonna Mile. Students
participate in workshops, leadership activities, and cultural experiences where the
Bridge Program helps strengthen their community connections and confidence early on.
To help make race day possible, organizers also need volunteers to keep the event
running smoothly. There are openings for Course Monitors, Registration Assistants,
and Water Station volunteers. Local businesses interested in supporting the Bridge
Program through race sponsorship can learn more by reaching out to Herb Haygood (hhaygood@madonna.edu).
Registration for the Crusader 5K + Madonna Mile is open now. Additional details on race-day logistics, packet pickup, and course
information can be viewed on the Crusader 5K Race Event Page.
