LIVONIA, MICH. – Madonna University’s TRIO program welcomed students to its annual Fall Cookout
on Monday, September 8, 2025, bringing students, faculty, and staff together for an
afternoon of food, music, conversation, and fellowship.
Held in a relaxed, come-and-go format, the Cookout allowed students to participate as their class schedules and other commitments permitted. Throughout the afternoon, students came together with their peers and members of the TRIO community, enjoying good food, music, and meaningful conversation in a welcoming and informal atmosphere.
The annual Cookout provides TRIO students with an opportunity to connect beyond their academic responsibilities and strengthen the relationships that are an important part of the college experience. While TRIO provides intentional academic and personal support to help students remain engaged, succeed in their studies, and progress toward graduation, the program also recognizes the importance of community, connection, and belonging. Events such as the Fall Cookout give students an opportunity to build relationships with one another and with the faculty and staff who support them throughout their time at Madonna University.

TRIO extends its sincere appreciation to Sodexo, and especially to Mr. Fares Awaimrin, Catering Supervisor, for his generosity, kindness, and continued support of the program and its students. His efforts helped make the Fall Cookout a welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone who attended.
Community is an integral part of the TRIO experience. In addition to supporting students academically, TRIO accompanies students through the challenges and opportunities of college life, helping foster an environment in which they feel supported, valued, and connected. Gatherings such as the Fall Cookout provide a welcome opportunity for students to briefly step away from their academic responsibilities, spend time with others, and enjoy the sense of community that makes the TRIO experience meaningful.
TRIO is grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of the Fall Cookout and, most importantly, to the students who came together to enjoy the afternoon. Their enthusiastic participation helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere and made the gathering a meaningful opportunity for connection and community at Madonna University.
