Dr. Roxanne Roth Named Interim Dean of Nursing at Madonna University


LIVONIA, MICH.Roxanne Roth, D.N.P., has been appointed as interim dean of the College of Nursing and Health, effectiveroxanne roth headshot July 21, 2025.

"Dr. Roth brings a deep commitment to academic excellence, student success, and the mission of Madonna University to her role," said Debbie Dunn, provost and vice president for academic administration. "A valued member of the faculty since 2016, Dr. Roth has demonstrated unwavering dedication to the advancement of nursing education through her leadership, teaching, scholarship, and service."

Over her seven years of full-time service at Madonna, Roth has contributed significantly to undergraduate and graduate education. She currently serves as chair, Graduate Nursing and is past program director of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. She chairs Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) capstone project committees, and leads instruction in the Nurse Educator graduate certificate program. As a Certified Nurse Educator, Roth consistently promotes teaching excellence and has driven innovative instructional strategies that have led to improved student outcomes on national nursing exams.

An accomplished curriculum developer, Roth has played a key role in revising the BSN and RN-BSN program curricula and is actively developing new programs such as a Dual FNP/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program and a Masters in Hospice and Palliative Care program. Her expertise in online learning platforms, including Blackboard and Canvas, supports high-quality course delivery across modalities.

According to Dunn, Roth’s scholarship portfolio is equally impressive. She has authored over seven scholarly publications, mentored numerous doctoral research projects, and presented at national and international conferences. Most notably, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, through which she led an international academic exchange in the Philippines, exemplifying her commitment to global nursing education and intercultural learning.

In addition to her academic and scholarly contributions, Roth is a dedicated servant leader. She has served as Past President of the Kappa Iota Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society for nursing, and is an active member of several college and university committees. Her presence is felt across campus through her participation in recruitment, advancement, and mission-focused initiatives.
