Madonna Launches Online Bachelor of Science in Allied Health

Allied Health Student

LIVONIA, MICH. – Madonna University’s College of Nursing and Health launched a new online Bachelor of Science in Allied Health this fall for students interested in health careers outside of direct clinical care.

The Allied Health program prepares students to work in community health, patient advocacy, health education, care coordination, or digital health communication. The degree was developed to meet a need in today’s health care for people who not only understand clinical care but also know how to communicate, promote health, and help patients navigate a complicated system with cultural awareness.

“Health care today happens everywhere, not just in hospitals,” said Dr. Denise Brothers, associate professor and chair of Population Health and Aging. “This program prepares students to improve health in communities, schools, nonprofit organizations, public health agencies, and online spaces where people access health information every day.”

Allied Health students choose an elective concentration based on their career interests, including aging services, health education and coaching, behavioral and mental health, health care navigation and advocacy, and digital health communication. The Allied Health major is also a good fit for students pursuing pre-professional coursework, such as pre-med. Because the degree is so flexible, students in the Allied Health program could graduate with very different focuses, even after taking the same major coursework.

The Allied Health major courses include Navigating the U.S. Health Care System, Population Health Promotion, Health Communication Strategies, and Evidence-Based Scholarship Practice. Students finish the degree with a capstone course, applying what they’ve learned to a real health challenge facing communities today.

The Bachelor of Science in Allied Health took effect in Fall 2026. More information, including the plan of study and elective concentrations, is available on the Allied Health program page.
