Madonna University’s newly developed Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) track within the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Nurse Practitioner program prepares nurses for advanced practice in a growing, high-demand field. Developed in response to the growing shortage of mental health providers, the program offers flexible pathways, including a PMHNP track, a dual-track option, and a post-master’s Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certificate. Students will complete eight graduate-level courses including focusing on psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, psychiatric assessment, and multiple clinical practicums. With nurse practitioner roles projected to grow by 35% from 2024 to 2034 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2024), this program positions students for strong career opportunities while addressing critical mental health care needs.
Note: new Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track and post-master's certificate are pending board approval to be offered beginning Fall 2026.
