The Madonna University campus has become still during the COVID-19 pandemic, as all classes are being conducted online. Although our campus and society have become isolated, our Franciscan mission and values have never been more engaged and present in our community. The Madonna flame of hope, caring, and compassion, glows brightly in all we do to ensure that students continue to receive the quality education we have always delivered.
As we work together to complete this disrupted semester, we know that the financial fallout from this global pandemic will continue. We already have witnessed a rise in financial aid appeals from students and families who have lost jobs. The switch to all online classes hasn’t been easy for some students who relied on campus computer labs and Madonna’s high-speed internet access.
Thankfully, the Madonna Fund helps us respond to the immediate needs of our students and the University; whether that need is scholarships, loaner laptops, student activities, or technology to facilitate online labs and coursework. In order to keep the Madonna Fund healthy, we invite you to take part in St. Felix Day of Giving on Monday, May 18, by making a gift online.
Similar to Giving Tuesday after Thanksgiving, St. Felix Day of Giving takes place on the Feast of St. Felix of Cantalice, the patron saint of the Felician Sisters who founded Madonna University. St. Felix was a joyful, humble beggar who sought sustenance for the sick and poor, so it is most fitting that we honor his good work while raising funds for Madonna and its students.
Every gift to the Madonna Fund puts us closer to our goal and helps ensure that the flame of Madonna University continues to burn brightly through this crisis and beyond. Give today to support the Madonna Fund.
