Madonna University’s unique dance programs offer a variety of components for a career path as a dancer, teacher, or multi-skilled professional. The Bachelor of Arts degree is offered for students who wish to major in dance, but would like to take advantage of the Liberal Arts academic experience. Our program as a whole is designed to foster critical thinking, communication, and ethical decision making necessary for success in today’s world, while also nurturing each student as a creative artist and maintaining the highest standards.

Detroit Native, Tracy Halloran, is a Kresge Artist Fellow in dance and music. She received her B.F.A. in Dance Performance from Marygrove College and her M.F.A. in Choreography from the University of Michigan. She has worked as a performer, professor, choreographer and rehearsal director in the dance world. Tracy has produced and choreographed her own performances to sold out audiences and has had works perform in the DUMBO Dance Festival, Art X Detroit Festival, Detroit Dance City Festival, and American College Dance Festival.
Tracy is the founder and Artistic Director of the contemporary dance company ConteXture dance Detroit and is a sought after choreographer for her works that combine multiple styles of dance. Besides creating works for her own company Tracy has choreographed for the Marygrove College Dance Company, the University of Michigan’s Department of Dance, The Academy Dance Alliance, Noretta Dunworth School of Dance, Dance Masters of Michigan and many more. She is an accomplished teacher in ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary, and stretch and strengthening techniques.
Tracy’s students have performed or are currently with Zurich Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Charlotte Ballet, Ballet of Arizona, Illinois Ballet Theater, Disney World’s Beauty and The Beast, Royal Caribbean and are also dancing for choreographers like Andrew Winghart, Kyle Hanagami, Talia Favia and Liz Imperio. She has been an instructor at the American College Dance Festival, Oakland Dance Festival, Cecchetti Council of America Ballet Day, Detroit Dance City Festival, the University of Michigan, The Academy of Dance Arts in Chicago, and Noretta Dunworth School of Dance. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Madonna University, on faculty at Company C Dance Club, and choreographs and teaches master classes all over the country.

Susan received her M.A. in Education from the University of Michigan, Dearborn and a B.F.A. in dance from Marygrove College. Her teaching credits include The University of Michigan, Juliana’s Academy of Dance, Lascu School of Ballet, The Pointe Academy of Dance, Geiger Ballet Academy, Premiere Music & Dance, Cre8tive Fine Arts Academy and many others.
Ms. Panek has choreographed for and performed as a back-up dancer with the Fabulous Fakes, a Las Vegas revue of renowned impersonators and has appeared in concert with Dance Nonce, Dance Detroit and Writhm Dance Company, as well as in the Nutcracker with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra serving as its Ballet Mistress, Children’s Rehearsal Director and Executive Managing Director. She is a former co-owner and co-director of the Premiere Plus Youth Dance Program in cooperation with various local recreation departments. Ms. Panek’s choreographic works can be seen at Marygrove College, Orchestra Hall, The Hillberry Theatre, Actor’s Alliance and various community and high school productions.
Sue has recently earned certification to teach Pilates Mat through the National Exercise Trainer’s Association (NETA) and holds certification to teach Zumba as an active member of the Zumba Instructor Network (ZIN). She has served Marygrove College as the Chair of the Division of Visual & Performing Arts, Chair of Dance and Vice-President of the Faculty Assembly. Ms. Panek is currently the Director of Performing Arts and Associate Professor of Dance at Madonna University.
