Credit for Classroom Field Trips and for High School Students
HUM/HIST 4800: Students may receive up to 3 s.h. credit. Requires a reading list related to a particular research project developed by the student and faculty member of record for the course. The criteria for the paper or journal is determined before the field trip. An example of such a project is a paper that reflects the findings of the student on such areas as comparative government, the humanities, monuments, living conditions, economy, historical or cultural sights, environmental problems and solutions, etc. It is recommended that students do some preliminary research.

Cost: $300 flat fee. If, however, this becomes an independent study for High School students requiring continued communication with and support from an instructor, standard Madonna University tuition fees apply. The tuition fee is $300 per semester hour of credit, plus a $50 registration fee.

Graduate Students
HUM 5800 and HIST 5800.3: Students may receive up to 3 s.h. credit for record purposes. Madonna University needs to know the content of the study which then must be approved by the faculty advisor for the course, and the Dean of the Graduate School. Each course requires a reading list to be made collaboratively by the student and the teacher of record at Madonna University, and an assignment or project for the class. Examples include analyzing the problems of intercultural communications, and / or the arts, music, literature, or language (of Costa Rica, for example). This can be done for credit in the language of the geographic study area.

Cost: $350 flat fee. If, however, this becomes an independent study, i.e. requiring continued communication with and support from the instructor, then the tuition fee is $350 per semester hour of credit plus a $50 registration fee.
