Student Success Stories
My name is Kelly Hazlewood and I received my Bachelor of Science at Madonna University this past July [2011]. During my last year, I was fortunate enough to receive an internship through one of my professors. The internship helped me achieve my final credits to complete my degree. When I first started at Madonna, I talked with Career Services on how to find a job. It was very frustrating because I thought it would be easy to obtain a job right out of college or even when I was still in college. The internship was through Livingston County in the Probation Department. Within one month of completing it, I received an offer for a part-time position as a temporary probation officer. Even though it is temporary and part-time, I have expanded my connections and have received a lot of information. With that, I am gaining knowledge and experience in the field. I have been working at Livingston County District Court for over three months and have recently applied for a full-time juvenile probation officer position.
I never thought I would find a job so quickly and I keep telling myself to keep my head high. You have to start somewhere and there you can find endless oppportunites.
