The Office of Student Life engages students in learning outside of the classroom. Student Life:
- Provides students with opportunities to serve with the community
- Prepares students for active involvement and leadership roles
- Encourages the work of over 40 registered student organizations
- Hosts large campus programs
- Educates students on health and wellness topics
From ID photos to commencement tickets, Student Life has the unique opportunity to be with students through their entire journey at Madonna University! Our slogan, “Get the 411, in Room 1411”, can be heard through the halls. Students know the best place to find information on campus policies, dates and times of events, or a friendly face is the Office of Student Life!
In cooperation with the Offices of Service-Learning and Campus Ministry, Student Life strives to engage every student in meaningful service projects. Each holiday season, you’ll see faculty, staff, and students gathering gifts for our Christmas for Kids program which provides for more than 40 families in our area.
Through the efforts of registered student organizations, students can participate in many other service projects like packaging food at Gleaner’s Community Food Bank, reading to children at local elementary schools, and donating blood with the American Red Cross. Each January, Madonna University celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with programs and service projects tied to our core values. Another option to serve is through an Alternative Spring Break program, where students choose to volunteer during their spring vacation.

Trips include service projects, reflection, and time for fun.
Service projects tend to focus on the areas of youth development, basic needs, anti-homelessness and anti-poverty, environmental, and natural disaster relief. Madonna students will serve alongside students from other colleges and universities during ASB. Travel arrangements and lodging accommodations are made by the Office of Student Life. Students will all stay together in volunteer housing or at community centers. ASB is a great way to learn about other communities and yourself.

Students can look forward to several traditions each academic year! Week of Welcome kicks off the fall semester with a Welcome Party and RSO Fair, where students can meet with registered student organizations they might be interested in joining. To celebrate the University’s Founder’s Day, Spirit Week is held each November and includes the Homecoming Dance, Crusader basketball games, and plenty of blue & gold.
To warm up at the start of the new year, Winter Welcome Back wows with Glow-in-the-Dark Capture the Flag, plenty of hot chocolate, and another opportunity to meet all the student organizations. At the end of each academic year, we wrap things up with Spring into Fun, which includes a Murder Mystery, Crusader baseball and softball games, and the Spring Fling Dance.
Another program that allows students to travel and experience all that Metro Detroit and Michigan have to offer is Madonna Miles. In cooperation with the International Students Office, Madonna Miles takes students on a bus to professional sporting events, museums, and other local attractions.
Students can receive helpful information about prevention programs, stress management, conflict resolution, work/life balance, self-esteem and many other areas from our office.
