Early Childhood ZA
  

PRE-K and K for certified Elementary teachers, 20 s.h.

The College of Education at Madonna University has approval from the Michigan Department of Education to offer the Early Childhood Endorsement (ZA) to an existing elementary certificate.   This endorsement is a 20 semester-hour program, and the credits may also apply toward the professional education certificate.

These courses are required:

CD  2160 Child Development and Guidance, 4 s.h., Fall, Winter terms

CD  2650 The Role of Content in Early Childhood:  Art,  Music, Play, Movement, Science and Math,  4 s.h., Fall, Winter terms

CD  3100 Language Development and Language Arts, 3 s.h., Winter, Spring terms

CD  3580 Developing Curriculum for the Preschool Child, 3 s.h., Fall, Winter terms

CD  3930 Curriculum Practicum (taken with CD 3580), 2 s.h., Fall, Winter terms

CD  4130 Parents and Teachers: Partners in Education, 3 s.h., Fall, Winter terms

CD  4160 Assessing Children's Behaviors, 2 s.h., Fall term

CD  4700 Senior Practicum, 3 s.h.

CD  4810 Senior Practicum Seminar, 1 s.h.

CD  4950 Senior Seminar, 2 s.h., Fall, Winter terms

NOTE:  To be recommended for the Early Childhood Endorsement, students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and earn a grade of C or better in each course used in the endorsement program.  The Michigan Test for Teacher Certification Subject Area Test in Early Childhood Education (Test 82) is also required.
