The Southwest Detroit Center supports all students!

Madonna University’s main campus is located in Livonia, MI. However it has centers located in Southwest Detroit, Orchard Lake, and Gaylord, MI. Our Southwest Detroit center is also home to our S.W.E.E.P. academic outreach center.

What is S.W.E.E.P.?

S.W.E.E.P stands for the Southwest (Detroit) Women’s Education and Empowerment Program, coordinated through Madonna University with support from the Religious of the Sacred Heart. For over 10 years, S.W.E.E.P has been a part of assisting students, women and men alike, in making a difference in the community through higher education.

How can S.W.E.E.P. help me reach my goals?

Designed in a supportive environment, the center includes tutoring, academic advising, academic workshops and writing assistance. You’ll also find that students who utilize the center benefit from community of student learners. Whether you are new to a university environment or are returning to it, we have a place for you!

How do I know if I’m ready for college-level course work?

Complimentary workshops on strengthening or enhancing academic skills will be offered in the summer prior to the start of fall classes. During the fall term courses focusing on specific study skills topics as well as time-management will also be available to new students.

How do I know if I can afford a college education?

You may qualify for aid which includes scholarships, grants and educational loans. To complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) contact Tia Silva, Program Coordinator for our Southwest Detroit area. Completing the FAFSA will require information from your 2007 completed tax returns and establishing a Personal Identification Number (PIN) by requesting it through www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Based on limited federal and state financial resources for higher education, students should complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.
