The history department offers a major in social studies for teacher education. This has been approved for certification by the Department of Education of the State of Michigan. The social studies major is a strong group major providing important ideas, concepts and theory from the areas of history, political science, geography and economics. Although this major was specifically designed for teacher education students, it is available to others.
