EXPERIENCE:

Since its inception in 1976, the Office of Disability Resources (O.D.R.) has assisted more than one thousand (1000) students with disabilities. The O.D.R. employs four full-time employees who work as a team to create the best possible learning environment for students with disabilities: A Director, an Interpreter Coordinator, an Advisor, and a Notetaker Coordinator. Each is sensitive to the needs of individual students; each is also fluent in American Sign Language. (Click here)

Madonna University’s successfully integrated learning environment is the result of mutual cooperation and support from the faculty, staff and administration. The University community is committed to providing each student with an opportunity to develop their unique self and share in a fulfilling post-secondary experience. Madonna University welcomes a diverse academic community, one in which people are allowed to discover their own individuality.

O.D.R. GOALS:

OneTo provide students with disabilities access to educational opportunities.

TwoTo provide an environment for better understanding between disabled and non-disabled people.

Three

To provide students with disabilities access to University opportunities for social, leadership, and self-advocacy development.

QUALITY SERVICES:

The quality of services available to a disabled student can influence that
student's ability to fully participate in the educational experience. To maintain
high quality services, the University hires and monitors those persons who
provide a direct service to disabled students. Note taking services are provided
by qualified note takers, who are required to maintain a high grade point
average. The O.D.R. employs professional Sign Language interpreters who are
experienced in educational interpreting. To maintain quality, the office does
not use volunteer services.
