| About the Program In accordance with the philosophy of Madonna University, the faculty of the Department of Nursing is committed to assisting students in the development of Christian humanistic values, a spirit of intellectual inquiry, openness to discovery of truth and readiness to serve others. The nursing department holds the core values of wellness, professionalism, caring, and a future focus as central to its culture. Madonna University’s nursing program has had continuous approval of the Michigan Board of Nursing and has been accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) since 1970. Specialty Track Overview The specialty prepares the advanced practice nurse to diagnose and manage primary health needs of adolescents and adults, especially those of the vulnerable, the underserved, and diverse populations.
The curriculum addresses comprehensive health assessment of clients, disease management, health promotion, guidance and counseling of individuals and families, and multidisciplinary collaboration and referral. Credentialing Graduates of this specialty are prepared to take the national certification exam as an Adult Nurse Practitioner offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
