| Students interested in teaching at the elementary level (K-8) are required to complete a 36 semester hour professional education sequence. The first course in the sequence, "EDU 200: Introduction to Professional Education Experiences," helps students assess their personal and academic strengths while they explore the many facets of the teaching profession. Upon completion of EDU 200, students must apply for admission to the Teacher Education Program. Students seeking an Elementary Certificate are also required to complete an academic major (see sidebar menu) and either the Elementary Curriculum Minor or the Early Childhood Education Minor. Students enrolled in Madonna's elementary certification program complete a curriculum rich in academic learning and field practice. Students complete fifteen weeks of student teaching during their final semester. Throughout the teacher education program students are required to demonstrate strong academic abilities combined with professional behaviors appropriate to the teaching profession. We are proud that our graduates enjoy the reputation for quality that Madonna University has earned in Michigan schools. Madonna University College of Education It's a Wise Choice |
