| | On behalf of my teaching colleagues in the College of Arts & Humanities, I welcome you to our College web site. As you examine the curriculum, including degree programs and certificate programs in the five departments (Art, English & Communication Arts, Music, Religious Studies & Philosophy, Sign Language Studies), two programs (Foreign Languages, English as a Second Language), and one graduate program (MTESOL), I ask you to note that we have structured the curriculum so that students are encouraged to make a series of active choices as they participate in determining the particular paths that their coursework and | academic goals will take.
The academic courses and programs in the College of Arts & Humanities lead to a wide variety of different careers, but most commonly, our graduates enter the fields of education, special education, the fine and performing arts, Catholic and other ministries, foreign service, and human relations, among others. What unites all of our academic offerings, however, is a commitment to understand the past, to grapple with significant issues of the present, and to envision a better future in which the Madonna University Arts & Humanities graduate uses the learned knowledge base, critical thinking skills, and reflective perspective of his/her undergraduate experiences. I invite you to visit and to revisit our web site and associated links. I hope that your electronic visit will lead to a campus visit so that you can experience first-hand the intellectually challenging, personally caring, academic community which constitutes Madonna University.
Very truly yours, Kathleen O'Dowd, Ph.D
Dean, College of Arts & Humanities Professor of English kodowd@madonna.edu |
