Addiction Studies

The Certificate of Completion in Addiction Studies:

Addiction Studies

Develops knowledge of the causes of chemical dependency and effects on individuals, families, groups, and communities
Prepares interested persons for parts of the State of Michigan Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC-M, CAC-R, and CAAC) certification process
Provides a certificate for career preparation, demonstrating knowledge and skills in chemical dependency treatment
Offers credit for prior/ experiential learning
Provides 15 contact hours for each one credit hour class for Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC-M, CAC-R, and CAAC) certification and recertification
 
This certificate program may be taken during attendance at the University, after graduation, or without a college degree.
 
The certificate may be of special interest to students majoring in human services fields such as:
Psychology
Sociology
Social Work
Education
Criminal Justice
Gerontology
