About the Program

Madonna University’s nursing program has had continuous approval of the Michigan Board of Nursing and has been accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) since 1970.

Overview
The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program prepares the advanced practice nurse to diagnose and manage acute health needs of adolescents and adults, primarily within acute and critical care settings. The curriculum addresses comprehensive health assessment of clients, disease management, health promotion, guidance and counseling of individuals and families, and multidisciplinary collaboration and referral. Employment opportunities include acute and critical care nurse practitioner positions within HC systems.
 
Credentialing
Graduates of this specialty are prepared to take the national certification exam as an Adult Nurse Practitioner offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). This renders the graduate eligible for nurse practitioner specialty certification by the Michigan Board of Nursing.
