Experience
Since its inception in 1976, the Office of Disability Resources (ODR) has assisted more than 1,000 students with disabilities. The ODR employs four full-time staff who work as a team to create the best possible learning environment for students with disabilities. We have a Director, an Interpreter Coordinator, an Advisor, and a Notetaker Coordinator. Each is sensitive to the needs of individual students and is also fluent in American Sign Language.

Commitment
Madonna University’s successfully integrated learning environment is the result of mutual cooperation and support from the faculty, staff and administration. The University community is committed to providing students with an opportunity to develop their unique self and share in a fulfilling post-secondary experience. Madonna University welcomes a diverse academic community – one where people are offered the support to discover their individuality and strengths.

ODR Goals
1. Provide students with disabilities access to educational opportunities.
2. Foster an environment for better understanding between disabled and non-disabled people.
3. Provide students with opportunities for social, leadership and self-advocacy development.

Quality Services
The quality of services available to disabled students can influence their ability to fully participate in the educational experience. To maintain high quality services, the University hires and monitors members who provide a direct service to disabled students. Note-taking services are provided by qualified Notetakers who are required to maintain a high GPA. The ODR employs professional Sign Language interpreters who are experienced in educational interpreting. To maintain quality, the office does not utilize volunteer services.
