Madonna BCA Students Earn Awards at National Level

Madonna BCA students excel and earn national recognition

Madonna BCA Students Earn Awards at National LevelThis summer the Broadcast and Cinema Arts (BCA) students attended the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Michigan Chapter “Student Production Awards” this past Saturday night at the Riley Broadcast Center of Detroit Public Television.

This year, there were over 90 entries from Michigan universities and colleges. Forty-three of those entries received nominations in the 12 categories. Of the 43 nominations, 20 of them were from Madonna University students.

The 21 BCA students nominated include:

Ashley Benton, Benjamin Berg, Kevin Connor, Cory Davis, Sami DeLuca, Miranda Ferguson, Jonathan Gray, Jeff Graham, Tyler Henker, Chelsea Jenkins, Hyun-Jee Kim, Luke LaBenne Elizabeth Markey, Ashley De’La McClendon, Kyle McGrath, Christopher Merbler, Darryn Montgomery, Lauren Mora, Dean Olivas, Kathryn Rand, and Darious Thomas.

Of the 12 categories awarded, Madonna took home 4 of the 12 Student Awards for Excellence Crystal Pillars in the following categories:

Public Affairs/Community Service – Tyler Henker’s “York Apparel”

Photographer – Ashley Benton, Lauren Mora, Chelsea Jenkins, Sami DeLuca, and Tyler Henker: “He Doesn’t Know It Yet”

Editor – Miranda Ferguson’s “Florence”

Writing – Darious Thomas’ “Human”
