Felician Services Awards Two Grants for Collaborative Projects
The eight Felician-sponsored ministries that share the square mile of property in Livonia have been awarded a $10,000 grant from the St. Francis Fund of Felician Services, Inc. These ministries include Madonna University, Marywood Nursing Home, Senior Clergy Village, Ladywood High School, Angela Hospice, St. Joseph Care Center, Montessori Center of Our Lady, and St. Mary Child Care Center. They will collaborate on partnerships for joint programming throughout Mission and Heritage Week. Under the leadership of Dr. Connie Tingson-Gatuz, the project will also sponsor an annual Mission Integration Summit and Convocation to share model projects and celebrate successes through presentations and post-er sessions. A second grant of $30,000 will support the adaptation of hospice/palliative studies and gerontology courses for online delivery to new populations of students, including representatives at other Felician-sponsored ministries as well as students at the three Felician colleges. Dr. Kelly Dumler, Sue Anne Sweeney, Dr. Elena Qureshi, and Dr. James Novak will form a project action team to repackage certificate programs about the issues and practical implications of changes in U.S. demographics in the next decade.
