Why did you choose Madonna University?
Originally, I decided to attend Madonna University to participate on the Women's Basketball team. Shortly after, I was able to find my interest in the Sports Management program that helped achieve my goals today and ultimately find myself in the world of Athletics.
What do you think makes the experience and education at Madonna special?
Madonna is a special place due to the people. Professors and administrators could not have been more supportive. Specifically, I never would have decided my major if it was not for the strong influences that I had through Kevin King - Director of Sports Management. He was able to help me establish my goals and see them through as a student and student athlete.
What have you been doing since graduation, career wise? (graduate school, employer?)
Directly after graduation, I decided to attend Eastern Michigan University to receive my Master’s degree in Sports Administration. During my first year, I was able to get connected with the Women's Basketball program and became Head Manager in 2009. In 2010, I was elevated to Director of Basketball Operations and held this position until July 2012. After having a successful few years at Eastern, I was able to graduate with my Master’s degree and make the move back to Schoolcraft College. Currently I am holding the Associate Athletic Director position and have been at Schoolcraft for the past 4 years. Fortunately, I have been able to achieve other positions within our Conference and Region. Along with being the Associate Athletic Director, I am the President of our conference (Michigan Community College Athletic Association/ MCCAA), and I am the Assistant Women's Region Director as well.
How has your Madonna degree played a role in your current position?
My degree from Madonna has been the cornerstone of my career. I am beyond thankful to have a degree that has a direct reflection of what I am doing today. My degree helped me achieve not only my goals for my career, but truly find my passion in life.
What has been your most rewarding professional or personal experience since graduating?
This past December I received the Presidential Award at Schoolcraft College, and while this award is something I truly honor and cherish, I believe the most rewarding experience I continuously have is to be able to directly help my current student-athletes. To pass on the knowledge and lessons I have learned from my professors and fellow members in the Athletics at Madonna, and of course personal experiences. Nothing is more rewarding than to see my current student athletes grow into successful and productive citizens in society and in their career.
