Why did you choose Madonna University?
I chose Madonna University because they were able to provide me with a schedule of classes that worked with my work schedule. I was able to seek my degree in education in the evenings and was able to work during the day. They were also very easy to work with when accepting college credit from another university.

What do you think makes the experience and education at Madonna special?
I truly believe the education I received at Madonna was rigorous and well rounded. The coursework in the College of Education for both, my teacher certification and Master of Arts in Teaching, provided me with applicable best practice methods to use in my own classroom. I felt that all the coursework and student teacher observations and teaching requirements prepared me well for becoming a classroom teacher. Additionally, the instructional staff went above and beyond in their instruction to not only teach the curriculum, but also share with students their own personal insights into the field of education which made classes more personal. Having small class sizes also added to this personal experience.

What have you been doing since graduation, career wise? (graduate school, employer?)
I have been working in the Farmington Public School District for five years now as both an upper elementary and middle school teacher. For the past 3 years I have taught math in middle school. This year I am also teaching accelerated upper elementary math students as well as middle school math.

How has your Madonna degree played a role in your current position?
I received not only my elementary teacher certification from Madonna with a major in science and minor in math, but I also received my Master of Art in Teaching in Curriculum and Instruction. Both the teacher certification and graduate degree have played a major role helping me become a classroom teacher that is able to provide my students with best practice instruction that meets the needs of all my diverse learners. The technology skills I have learned in my instruction have not only been used widely in bringing technology into my classroom, but also have afforded me the opportunity to facilitate instruction to staff on various technology applications for the classroom during district professional development. I am also hoping to work at the district level with the realignment of our standards based report card for 5th grade with the common core state standards in math, putting my Master of Art in Teaching into practice.

What has been your most rewarding professional or personal experience since graduating?
I believe one of the most rewarding experiences I have had since graduating has been when I am able to facilitate workshops during staff professional development. I truly love teaching others. When I am able to teach other teachers, I feel that I am doing it with the same passion my professors at Madonna displayed and consequently instilled in me.

Why did you choose Madonna University?
I chose Madonna University because I like the small class sizes. I really enjoyed feeling like the professors cared about me as a person and they were invested in helping me succeed.

What do you think makes the experience and education at Madonna special?
Everyone involved in the school make the experience amazing. Everyone there is invested in education and they help make the atmosphere comfortable. The professors were always available for help while I was in school and they are still willing to help and advise me with any question now, even after I graduated.

What have you been doing since graduation, career wise? (graduate school, employer?)
I am a science teacher at Ladywood High School. Right after I graduated, I found a job thanks to the help I received from my advisors in the education and science department.

How has your Madonna degree played a role in your current position?
It really helped me understand the type of teacher I wanted to become and it gave me all the tools to reach that potential. It also pointed me in the direction to how I could further my career and what graduate courses to look into.

What has been your most rewarding professional or personal experience since graduating?
My most rewarding personal experience happens to me on a daily basis, and it is witnessing my students succeed. Whether they are describing a concept to their peers or collaborating to solve a problem, seeing my students succeed will always be rewarding.
