The Psychology Department offers four undergraduate majors as well as a master's program in Clinical Psychology. The undergraduate Psychology program is well-known for its flexibility and adaptability. Each program includes a cutting-edge curriculum designed according to national professional guidelines for undergraduate study in psychology.
Since the field focuses on the study of the human mind and human behavior, a Psychology degree is excellent preparation for any position in which you will be working with people. Psychology majors are well positioned in the job market because of their training in critical thinking and communications. The program prepares students for graduate study in many fields. With more than 40 percent of undergraduates in the field eventually going on to law school, business school, or some other professional program, the [psychology] major ranks among the highest in post-graduate academic attainment according to CNN Financial Network, Dec. 2000.
The Psychology Department includes three full-time faculty members with doctorate degrees from Yale University, University of Michigan and Wayne State University as well as 15 adjunct faculty members, nine of whom hold doctorate degrees. Our department has a reputation for putting students first by providing excellent advising and classroom instruction.
