Objective One: Expanding Graduate DNP Enrollment For the Advanced Education Nursing Grant the first objective is to expand the graduate nursing programs of Madonna University (MU) and University of Detroit’s McAuley School of Nursing (MSON) through the addition of two Post-Master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree programs to prepare nurses at the highest level of practice. With this grant we strive to achieve certain outcomes which include: 1.1   An increase in MU graduate program enrollment by 20 percent in years one and three of the project; 12 full-time and three part-time students in year one and 15 full-time and three part-time students in year three for a total of 33 new students.   1.2 An increase in MSON graduate program enrollment by 10 percent in year two of the project; 12 new DNP students in year two and 12 new DNP students in year three.   1.3 Improvement in the capabilities of DNP students to provide culturally competent nursing care.   1.4 Improvement in the mental health competencies of DNP students working in a variety of advanced nursing roles.   1.5 Improvement in the community engagement competencies of DNP students to reduce health disparities.   1.6 The dissemination of concept papers related to cultural competence, mental health, and social justice areas as electives in DNP programs.
