"The art of making music is so deep and profound that to approach it very seriously only is not enough. One must approach music with a serious rigor and, at the same time, with a great, affectionate joy." -Nadia Boulanger
As one of the most influential teachers of the 20th century, Boulanger made this observation about music and it could well be the motto of Madonna University’s Music Department.
The Music Department stands by a commitment to develop students’ understanding of human culture through the study and performance of music and its related disciplines. Graduates are prepared to pursue music as a profession in the services of school, church, community or as an enriching cultural activity.
If you desire a personal approach to your musical growth and educational development, I encourage you to look closely at our programs. Through advising, course work and mentoring, we closely monitor the growth of our students. Madonna University's Music Department faculty, talented performers who are also gifted teachers, are committed to assisting you in developing your skills through stimulating classroom and performing experiences. They love to create and perform inspiring and provocative music, and elicit the same from their students. Linette Popoff-Parks, Chair Music Department 734-432-5709 | lpopoff-parks@madonna.edu
