The Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Business Concentration is designed to provide students with a background in the field of psychology, emphasizing theory and research related to business. Courses from the Department of Psychology and the Department of Marketing and Management combine to offer a choice of programs focused on marketing or human resources. The Business Concentration program also prepares students to pursue graduate study in the field of industrial/organizational psychology, a branch of psychology that studies how businesses function and develops methods to create more effective work environments.
A co-operative education experience (placement in the workplace) is required of all students who are not employed full-time. The placement, arranged by the University's co-op program, is an excellent way for students to get a foot in the door in a field they may pursue for long-term employment upon completion of the program.
Within the values and goals of Madonna University, the Psychology Department provides a solid foundation in the understanding of the whole person through exploration of research-based practice in psychology. Study in the Department promotes the development of responsible scholarship, knowledge of major findings, issues in psychology, an open, inquiring mind, and an appreciation of the diversity of human life. Course work prepares students to think psychologically, to apply psychological principles to a professional setting or to study psychology and related disciplines at the graduate level.
