The mission of Madonna University’s Endorsement Teaching English as a Second Language program is to provide advanced professional preparation to ESL/EFL teachers through rigorous intellectual inquiry, application of pedagogical knowledge in classroom settings, and community-based service–learning experiences.
The Teaching English as a Second Language Endorsement program is designed to educate and train teachers of English as a second or foreign language. The program offers sound foundations in theoretical and applied linguistics, educational theory and practice, as well as cultural aspects of language learning, teaching, and assessment. Students choose to concentrate either in K-12 or adult ESL/EFL education.
The curriculum consists of 28 semester hours. Students practice their knowledge in classroom settings during the practicum. Candidates for the NS endorsement need a valid Michigan teaching certificate, current or expired. The Endorsement requires MTTC Test 86: English as a Second Language. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
