The mission of the Department of Gerontology is to prepare students to address the concerns of an aging population and to promote the potential of people in their later years.
Associate of Science/Long-term Care Administration: Persons successfully completing this program of studies are prepared for entry-level jobs addressing the special interests and needs of older adults in a variety of housing environments.
Bachelor of Science/Long-term Care Administration: Individuals successfully completing courses for this program gain a solid foundation on aging and older adults combined with basic business acumen. Students may focus their studies of the long-term care continuum on either nursing homes or care management. Upon successful completion, graduates can typically find employment in entry-level positions in retirement communities and nursing homes. Some graduates enter Administrators-in-Training programs.
