Madonna University’s newest music programs offer a Bachelor of Music and a Certificate of Completion in Film Music Scoring. The programs prepare students for employment in the film industry. Three new courses in Film Scoring provide students with knowledge and experience in composing and recording music for films, commercials, video, gaming, etc. At the end of the program, students collaborate with the Broadcast and Cinema Arts Department to score an original film produced by the BCA students. In addition to learning several orchestration techniques conducive to film scoring, students develop technical skills on digital audio equipment where they record and compile an audio mix suitable for delivery to a producer. Film Music Scoring is available to non-admitted students as a noncredit professional development program. We also offer a 16-s.h. Certificate of Completion in Film Scoring (see Plan of Study).
The Music Department stands by a commitment to develop students’ understanding of human culture through the study and performance of music and its related disciplines. Graduates are prepared to pursue music as a profession in the services of school, church, community or as an enriching cultural activity.
