Madonna University's English program is designed to develop in its students the ability to respond thoughtfully and analytically to literary texts and to articulate those responses in appropriate forms of discourse – written, oral, electronic, and digital. Through the study of language, literature, and writing, students acquire a broad literary, cultural, and linguistic understanding of our increasingly complex, diverse, and technological world.
The English program is not only for teachers. Though the program prepares the next generation of elementary and secondary educators to instill an appreciation and love of diverse texts in their future students, it also prepares students for careers in such fields as publishing, sales, and corporate communication, and can lay the groundwork for graduate study in English, Writing, Communication, Law or Business. Consult with your advisor to select the right courses for your career track.
