The mission of the Community Leadership Certificate program is to provide students a moral and ethical framework for community service and future community leadership roles. Students gain the necessary conceptual knowledge and experiential base to work for the betterment of diverse communities.
The Sociology Department in conjunction with the Office of Service Learning offers students the opportunity to earn a 15 semesterhour Certificate of Completion in Community Leadership while fulfilling their general education requirements. The overall goal of the certificate program is to prepare students for active and lasting civic engagement. Achieved through a combination of courses in sociology, management, religious studies, service-learning projects both in and outside the student’s major, students will finish the program with a Portfolio in Community Leadership.
