Interested in secondary school teaching? Would you like to ensure the next generation possesses the media literacy essential to personal and professional success? If so, consider Madonna University’s Communication Arts for Secondary Teachers program of study. This major introduces future teachers to state-of-the-art broadcast technology. When partnered with the required English minor, the Communication Arts for Secondary Teachers major affords students the opportunity to receive teaching certification in two fields. With multimedia competencies, graduates are able to find employment in school districts across the country.
In response to the demand for a program specifically addressing the need to teach high school students the practical fundamentals of print, oral, visual, electronic, and digital media, the English and Communication Arts Department and College of Education designed the Communication Arts for Secondary Teachers major. The program provides prospective teachers with a firm grounding encompassing both theory and practice in transactional writing, print production, speech, broadcast, and cinema. Our goal is to create graduates ideally prepared to impart their students with essential skills for real-world communication while instilling in them a love, understanding, and appreciation of the literary and nonliterary components of the English Language Arts.
