The Madonna University Secondary Teacher Preparation Programs are approved by the Michigan Department of Education and are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. The University recommends students for both provisional (initial) certification and the Professional Education certificate, as well as for additional endorsements to existing certificates. The University also recommends students for the Interim Occupational Certificate (formally called the Temporary Vocational Authorization) to teach grades 9 through 12 in a State-reimbursed vocational classroom.
Madonna University offers a variety of majors, minors and certificates of completion to prepare students for a career in secondary teaching. Secondary teaching certificates are available in the following concentrations: Biology, Chemistry, Communication Arts, English, Family and Consumer Sciences, History, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Music Education (K-12), Social Studies, Spanish, Visual Arts Education (K-12), Journalism, Physical Education, Physics, Political Science, and Speech.
