Teachers seeking an educational planned program to renew their teaching certificate or add an additional endorsement may choose from a number of graduate and undergraduate programs at Madonna University.
The following graduate programs can be used for an educational planned program, some of which result in an additional endorsement:
Autism Spectrum Disorders (SV) K-12 Catholic School Leadership* Curriculum and Instruction Early Childhood Education (ZS) Educational Leadership* Educational Technology (NP) Learning Disabilities (SM) K-12 Literacy Education (Reading Specialist) (BR) K-12 Teaching and Learning with Online Instruction Concentration Teaching English as a Second Language (NP) K-12 *An Administrator Certificate is available to those who complete the M.S. in Educational Leadership or Catholic School Leadership.
With undergraduate coursework, endorsements can be added in the following subjects:
American Sign Language K-12 Biology 6-12 Chemistry 6-12 Communication Arts 6-12 English 6-12 Family and Consumer Sciences 6-12 History 6-12 Integrated Science Elementary 6-8 Integrated Science Secondary 6-12 Language Arts 6-8 Mathematics Elementary 6-8 Mathematics Secondary 6-12 Music Education K-12 Physical Education 6-12 Political Science 6-12 Social Studies 6-12 Spanish K-12 Speech Communication 6-12 Visual Arts Education K-12
Level Change: To add elementary certification (K-5) to a secondary certificate, the teacher must complete the Elementary Curriculum minor along with a methods course, an additional reading course, and 8 weeks of directed teaching. To add a secondary subject (6-12) to an elementary certificate may require additional coursework in the subject, along with a secondary methods course and directed teaching at the secondary level.
For all planned programs, the student must take a minimum of 12 s.h. at Madonna University in order for the University to make a recommendation to the Michigan Department of Education for an additional endorsement, renewal, Professional or Administrator certificate.
