As part of the Department of Physical and Applied Sciences, the mission of the Emergency Management program coincides with the entire Madonna University mission regarding career preparation, and service to others and society based on Judeo-Christian principles as advanced by the Felician Sisters. The Emergency Management program trains professionals who are courageous enough to put their own lives on the line to save lives of others, and to put their country first when it comes to Homeland Security.

These programs train professionals who are called on in cases of occupational safety, and health and fire emergencies. Madonna University's Emergency Management program trains professionals who are at the forefront of Homeland Security emergencies. The nature of these professions requires hands-on field training to accord students the skills needed to perform as professionals from day No. 1 on the job.
