Prepare for a career in the growing Michigan film industry. The Broadcast and Cinema Arts program prepares students for careers in broadcast, film, and new media industries using an integrated theoretical, and intensive hands-on approach. The curriculum, grounded in the liberal arts, offers a professional preparation that is based on field training while encouraging student input and innovation throughout.
For more than 35 years, the faculty has been comprised of professionals drawn from the industry who are dedicated to excellence and best practices.
Recognizing that students need to learn in a professional environment, in 1985 the University established Madonna Magazine, a public service television program. Students completing all of the production courses have 45 broadcast television programs to their credit and to include in job resumes.
In 2004, the Madonna University Broadcast Club was formed to provide additional opportunities for students to build relationships and network with other students, alumni, industry professionals, and to participate in service learning and community projects.
In 2006, Christopher Coppola brought the first PAH (Project Accessible Hollywood) Fest Motown to Madonna University. BCA majors have the opportunity to work side by side with Hollywood film directors, producers, and editors at the PAH Fest Hollywood. In 2008, Christopher Coppola joined the BCA faculty at Madonna.
The new HD (high-definition) digital production facility includes a 30-by-40 TV studio/sound stage equipped with four cameras, jibs, a lighting grid, a cyclorama, a control room, a radio studio, an announce booth, a video edit lab, a classroom with 16 workstations, six edit suites, and field production equipment.
