The Accounting program prepares students for careers in financial, managerial, auditing and taxation positions. This degree covers the body of knowledge necessary for taking the Certified Public Accounting exam in Michigan. The program teaches students to apply various financial analytical methodologies required for internal decision making.

Students with an accounting degree find jobs despite the current job market because it remains one of the few fields in high demand. Co-op positions are available and employers often hire Madonna University students after graduation. Madonna University's Accounting program offers students the flexibility to work in a variety of accounting areas for manufacturing, service, health care and nonprofit companies.

Program Goals
Students completing the baccalaureate degree in accounting will be prepared for an entry-level position in the accounting field and will have:

• Demonstrate knowledge of basic accounting principles and concepts. 
  Apply and evaluate the multifaceted procedures and reporting concepts underlying external reporting.
• Analyze and apply financial information for the internal planning, managing, controlling, and evaluating of business operations including its interrelationship with other functional areas.
• Apply various financial analytical methodologies requisite for internal decision making.
• Demonstrate and apply knowledge of the U.S. laws of taxation for individuals and business entities.
• Apply the principles and concepts of auditing including external, internal and EDP auditing.
  Three types of certification are available to the professional accountant:
• CPA; Certified Public Accountant
• CMA; Certified Management accountant
• CIA; Certified Internal Auditor
